The Book of Wine & Seizures began its modern emergence three decades ago. Secrecy was found necessary, as shameless men and women were seen to misappropriate its terminologies to enhance their statures. Stature enhancing itself is the Great Bent Uncle of the Wine & Seizures fatuities!
The 28 books of The Book of Wine & Seizures present in three volumes. One of the books, which is The Psalm of Wretchedness and Devastatien, hardly ought to be called a book at all, numbering but two pages. But such scathing and terrible pages they are, more terrible now than nearly a quarter-century ago when an impromptu reading of a prior version of these brutal exhortations fueled the wicked glee of a group of rollicking academics convened around a glistening keg of German lager! Is it then to be hoped that those sudsing seekers have by now redressed their heedless spirits? My friends, why that hope?
The Author has called for his scones to be brought at ten, but I cannot seem to wake him by acoustic rap-tappings. Perhaps I shall throw open the great window to the garden and place some Elvis Costello on the amplified Victrola. One day I shall surely find him dead amid his papers. Ah, but these little chats with his public are not to be given over to morbid indulgence. I have been warned before, by the Author and by others. Forgive me.
The Author found himself plagued with an imposing, thrusting beard, and after dispatching it by agency of an assemblage of razors and shears, cried joy in feeling the rush of hard air against his liberated face, air neither filtered nor dampened nor made slow and stagnant by mat. One had but to glimpse the light in his eyes to understand that he was happy. For a few hours he could pretend that hair does not creep back.
The Illustrator travels around the world imparting knowledge, opinions and skin cells, superb quality all. He is a man of many distinguished tuxedos, many blazers, many jerseys, with much occasion for the wearing of each. It happens too that he looms among the earth's experts on music forms, notable among these rock, jazz and folk. To broach his other expertises now would diminish the present revelation, so wait they must.
